  1. I feel that Terry knew that this was going to be difficult, but he had so much determination, and wanted to do the not only for him, but for other too. Nothing is impossible if you push yourself to try. Terry did just that. I feel like anyone could get interested in Terry’s story, young or old, big or small; his story is simply amazing. I bet to you that Terry is watching over us, proud that we’re continuing what he wanted to finish. The least that any one could do is donate a dollar for cancer research, or maybe you could take part in the run. It’s always a nice feeling to do something for on person, or multiple people. -Kristina

  2. Terry Fox ran 5373 miles in 143 days. That is amazing. A lot of people could never do that. He even ran on one leg. I think that is his biggest struggle never mind that he has cancer in his lungs. I think that the easy part was his courage. He wouldn’t stop even if he had two prosthetic legs. He never stops no matter what. Terry just wanted to raise a dollar for every Canadian. That is difficult Matthew h

  3. I think that it was extremely difficult for Terry Fox to run across Canada. He was doing it to raise money for cancer research. He never did it for the fame or the attention. Terry Fox is a great influence on Canada for all the he has done for cancer patients and cancer research. I think Terry Fox’s biggest struggle on his journey was knowing that he wasn’t going to make it at the end. I don’t think any part of this journey was easy for Terry Fox. I think that the entire journey had its difficulties and ups and downs but it was worth it because of all the money raised for cancer research. We thank Terry Fox for that!

  4. I feel that the run would have been difficult for him, because I mean, the guy’s running across the country for Pete’s sake. He was training for so long that he could’ve made it if he had started the run earlier. He probably struggled a lot, but I mean, if you’re going to run across the country, then I guess it’s an exception. His biggest struggle would’ve been heart rate and breathing, also dehydration. That would have made the run more difficult to continue. But I think Terry is happy with Canada, because we are helping him with his journey. He left a legacy to help with Cancer Research. But I definitely would agree that the run would be very difficult for Terry and anyone really.

  5. I think running across Canada would have been hard especially with the Cancer. It would have also been hard running with an artificial leg. I think his biggest struggles would have been running in cold weather with an artificial leg and Cancer. Cancer made Terry want to continue running. He was trying to find a cure. Chiara.F

  6. I think that running across Canada would be hard for Terry. This was because he was on an artificial leg and probably was sore when he ran. I would guess that Terrys biggest struggle would have been running in all different kinds of weather such as snow, rain, and heat. The thing that made him keep running is all the other kids and adults with cancer as well to raise money for cancer research. -chrissy

  7. Terry’s Struggles
I think one of his struggles was what the people were thinking, if he cheated or not and all the fans surrounding him. He wanted to continue because he wanted to support cancer research as much as possible. He did it till he passed. Another issue would be waking up at 4:30 am and spending over 5 hours in a day in a stinky van. I could never think of anything as disgusting as that. Another struggle may have been what he thought if he died in front of all his fans. Something easy for him would be having no school but still running across Canada would be more difficult than High School. Another possible issue could have been family. Maybe be missed them or they missed their hero.

  8. I think it has been a little difficult for Terry to run a marathon every single day, because since he had his left foot half gone, he kind of needs to hop more than run. Other reasons are that running a marathon everyday isn’t very healthy, especially when he just survived cancer. I think his biggest struggle has been not showering everyday or doing his laundry and also running with one leg. What made him continue running is that he felt bad for kids who were than dying from cancer and since he had cancer, he knew how they felt. -Yevheniya

  9. I think it was very difficult for terry to run over 5000 kilometers. The biggest struggle would be for the caner to spread to his lungs or if it spread to his other leg that be make it a lot harder. What made him want to continue was all of the support and his dream he had for one dollar for every Canadian.

  11. Terry showed that he had GRIT from the moment he put his prosthetic leg in the Atlantic Ocean. He wanted to share his message of hope with Canada and the world. Though he did not finish his Marathon of Hope, his dream lives on today when people from around the world run in his name for cancer research. - Mrs. Steinhoff 7EF

  12. Terry Fox showed GRIT once he started his Marathon. He showed GRIT soo much while he was doing his Marathon because he NEVER stopped he JUST KEPT GOING. He ran even if he was in pain. He really wanted to reach his goal. I think the ‘Marathon Of Hope’ is a great name for his run because it’s what he wants to raise money for - ‘Hope’. Terry Fox is a great example of all the people with prosthetic legs. Addison J-W

  13. Terry ran a long run and raised a lot of money for cancer research. He had grit he was positive he could do it. Terry had a lot of fans and ran a marathon every day. He would run a mile the take a little break the he would run again for a mile. He would run 27 miles per day and always stayed strong. But on September 1980 the Marathon of hope was cut short. The cancer had returned in his lungs and over the next six months Terry went under treatment and four months later he died.- Rovan Braun

  15. 25 years ago Terry fox put his foot into the Atlantic Ocean, in Saint Johns. He head west. He wanted to run across Canada because he had “Grit.” He had “Grit” to run across Canada for cancer and 1 dollar from every Canadian. He sees us from heaven finishing what he started, he smiles down to us. So he helped people a long time ago live tell today. They may be adults that where kids 25 years ago.

  16. Terry fox had the GRIT to choose to run around Canada. When Terry was 18 he was diagnosed with bone cancer, and he had to get his leg amputated. He said that day when he had to get his leg amputated he had a dream to run across Canada and raise a dollar for every Canadian. He picked to run across Canada because he was so sad by the other suffering cancer patients. He would run 42 kilometers, which is 26 miles a day, which was like running a marathon every single day. He called the run The Marathon of Hope. He began his journey to run across Canada on April 12th, at St. John’s Newfoundland, and sadly he had to stop on September 1 because cancer came back into his lungs. From the day Terry died till now he is a hero to us, and we still continue the Marathon of Hope.-Julia Bobelyak

  17. Marathon of Hope
Terry Foxs Journey was not easy especially seeing he only had one leg. Some of his biggest stuggles would have been waking up at 4:00 am to run 14 miles. Also he had said that the prostetic did not feel good. The conditions he was running in weren’t always sunny and beautiful. What I think made him still want to run was seeing all the kids going through the same thing as him, Cancer. Terry was very Courageous, and he never gave up.-Elliot

  18. The Marathon of hope

I feel like Terry had a really hard time RUNNING across Cannada on one leg!!! Well, technically two legs but one was prosthetic leg but still that’s tough for a 22-year-old. I mean that’s young, but still a marathon a day is hard. Although he worked very hard, he can now rest peacefully knowing that he made a change. ~Anni

  19. Terry Fox was a very brave man. His journey was difficult, but he never gave up. It was hard because he always felt a lot of pain and he missed his family. I think his biggest struggle was when he discovered he had cancer in his leg. It would have been really hard for him and his family.
He never gave up because he knew this journey was worth it. Before he ran, he saw a lot of people and even kids with cancer. He wanted to save these Kids’ lives, so that is why he never gave up. - Lucas Wiens

  20. Terry’s Inspiring Journey
I think running across Canada would be very difficult and its impressive how far Terry got. All the snow, wind, rain and intense heat would have been a major struggle. The hills, cars and many other things must have been challenging as well. Terry showed so much determination and heroism by running 3339 miles before his tragic death. Many fans supported him throughout his inspirational journey. Towards the end when Terry was running it would have been so painful with his hurting foot and his developing lung cancer. Though many people thought he would never be successful running across Canada, they were right, but Terry was successful in another way; making an impact and that impact made a huge difference in Canada and the entire world. -Ayla

  21. A True Hero
I think that Terry’s journey would have been very difficult for Terry, because he only had one leg: his prosthetic leg. It must have been painful. The weather was not always nice, he was not very popular at the beginning and let’s not forget he had cancer on top all of this. That is a lot of stress, but he kept on running. In my opinion, he wanted to continue running because he was not ready to give up on his dream of raising $1 for every Canadian. If that’s not a hero, I don’t know what is.

  22. I think that Terry Fox’s journey would have been difficult for Terry because he knew what the kids were going through and it must have been really hard to run with one leg. What made him continue running? I think it was the kids. The kids that he saw and the kids that he met and all the kids that he knew. I just learnt that over a decade ago on march 15th 2005 Terry fox was published on the Canadian $1 dollar coin. His dream was to collect $1 dollar from every Canadian now he is ON the $1 dollar coin.

  23. Marathon of Hope
In my opinion, it would have been very hard for Terry to run across Canada. 3339 miles! To me, that is incredible. I think one of the main struggles for Terry was that he only had one real leg. Imagine running 26 miles a day like that. To me that was mind blowing. But the most fascinating part of that for me was that he was doing it for the children that were diagnosed with cancer. He couldn’t believe that little kids were getting cancer all over the world. So, he decided to do something about it. So, he ran across Canada to raise money for cancer research. Now he has raised over $750 million dollars for cancer research. Terry made history. -Hannah

  24. Terry Fox’s Journey

Terry Fox was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer) five days later his right leg was amputated. When Terry was in the hospital getting treated, he was astonished to see how many kids and adults where fighting/dying from cancer. When Terry left the hospital, he made a commitment to run across Canada for cancer research. His goal was to raise 1 dollar for every Canadian. I don’t think that it was easy for Terry. He ran through the damp, spring, hot sunny summers and pouring rain. Even though he was tired he never gave up. He ran 3339 miles in total, that’s like running all the way to El Salvador! One of his biggest struggles was that he only had one leg. I think that he kept on running because of all if the kids and adults fighting cancer.
