"How to" Writing - Some Background and an Example

Hi Everyone!

Do you know how to "dab"? What about "floss"? These dance moves were pretty popular last year!! How would you teach someone to do this or something else that you are good at? The video below shows just how hard it can be to learn something and to teach something!

We have started to brainstorm some ideas for our "How-to" Writing in the general posts on TEAMS. This will be a great opportunity to teach and learn from others as we continue to learn remotely.

Teaching someone how to do something can be tricky business.  You need to be sure to include precise language, specific steps and helpful tips to support their learning.

When we did our "Les biscuits palmiers" in French, we used a lot of verbs.  We will need to do the same thing for this project in ELA.  Here are some verbs below that make sense for cooking/baking.  Think about what verbs you would need for your "How To".

Take a look at my How To below. Think of it as example.  How can you use my example to create something similar about something that you know how to do? Below there are also anchor charts that help you to understand a bit of background around this new writing project.
